Dog Bed Sizing Guide: How to Choose the Right Size Pet Bed

Are you struggling to find the correct bed size for your furry friends? Once you've picked your bed, choosing the size that will perfectly fit your pet can be very tricky. At NaturoPet, pet comfort and wellbeing is our top priority, which is why we're highlighting the importance of a sleep environment where they can rest comfortably.

WHY SIZE DOES MATTER

Usually, we do not consider the consequences of not investing some time into  choosing a pet bed that comfortably fits their sleep positioning. It's also easy to overlook how a bed that is possibly too small will affect their pet’s wellbeing. However, having an incorrect bed size can cause health issues such as:

  • Restless nights
  • Joint issues
  • Builds tension
  • Muscle stiffness

WHAT TO KEEP IN MIND

As opposed to regular human beds, there is no standard sizing for pet beds, making bed hunting even harder. With that in mind, the first step to take before making the correct purchase is, without a doubt, measuring your pet. If you have a kitten or puppy, keep in mind how much more they will grow and the standard adult size for that specific breed. After that step, add a few extra inches to your measuring to guarantee extra legroom. Also, do not forget to count their tail size as well!

In addition, we should consider our pet’s sleeping style once that affects how much room they require to sleep. As primarily seen in dogs, some curl into a ball shape for more comfort (requiring less space), while some prefer sleeping in a stretched-out form, requiring much more room to sleep on.

MISTAKES TO AVOID

Even though we must consider our pet’s weight, breed, and age when looking for a new bed, we should never consider these factors independently. For example, when just viewing a dog’s weight, an English Bulldog can be heavier than an English Setter, even though he/she is substantially smaller.

In addition, an elderly Yorkshire may require extra bed space due to unfortunate age-related health issues such as joint problems. When dealing with older pets, it is essential to prioritize their sleep-designed space since they will spend most of their time resting.

WHAT WE OFFER

After keeping all of these recommendations in mind and before purchasing our products, it is important to highlight that our natural beds come in three different sizes and dimensions:

  • Small: 26" L x 20" W x 4" H
  • Medium: 34" L x 26" W x 4" H
  • Large: 44" L x 34" W x 4" H

NaturoPet proudly offers our customers handcrafted products made in the US that provide elevated comfort and are exceptionally durable.

Always keep in mind that when in doubt, size up! Lastly, it is crucial to remember that your pet not only uses its bed to sleep, but also to relax, so why not make sure that they will have enough room to be comfortable and spacious?
